D001 → Modular Design
Modular design, a cornerstone of sustainable design, focuses on creating systems where a single piece can be used to build various shapes, much like LEGO. This approach allows for versatile and adaptable structures, reducing waste and promoting reuse.
Tile System / Ceramics
Tile system for Mycelial growth. One of the biggest challenges when growing mycelium is contamination, if one small piece is contaminated it spreads rapidly throughout the entire substrate. As mycelium joins with itself, the idea is to have small tiles that join and make up a bigger Mycelium Skin sheet, where one can have greater control over the small samples and less contamination. The shape is inspired by the fairy rings, and how mycelium naturally grows on the forest floor. 40-piece set, 10x10cm Glazed Ceramic Tiles.
Beeswax
Made a silicone mold of the tile, beeswax was the perfect material as it is sustainable, non-porous, and keeps the contaminants out for mycelium growth. In addition, by melting the sides you can join the tiles and create a big sheet.
1hook, 3hooks / Cold Porcelain
This project was aimed at creating one design of a hook that can hook with itself in 3 different ways, which means one hook design can create 3 functionally and aesthetically different chains.
